TanH()

Hyperbolic Tangent of the argument

Syntax

      TANH( nArea ) -> nHyperbolicTangent

Arguments

<nArea> the size of the area (see below)

Returns

<nHyperbolicTangent> the hyperbolic tangent of <nArea>

Description

The function TANH() calculates the hyperbolic tangent of the argument. In analytical mathematics it is defined as SINH(x)/COSH(x).

Examples

      ? tanh( 0.0 ) // --> 0.0
      ? tanh( 1.0 ) // --> 0.7615...

Tests

      tanh( 0.0 ) == 0.0
      tanh( -0.5 ) == -tanh( 0.5 )
